Munich preview of Alexander Payne’s comedy “The Holdovers” – Munich

The holidays have only just ended when Alexander Payne’s bizarre story about the 1970 Christmas holidays in an elite New England boarding school is finally coming to German cinemas.

“The Holdovers” tells of the three people who remained in the cold building of Barton Academy over Christmas: the unpopular teacher Mr. Hunham, his rebellious student Angus and cook Mary. Despite initial reluctance, through strange incidents and shared loneliness, the trio grows together to form a substitute family just in time for the celebration of love.

With the tragicomedy about solidarity and resilience, the two-time Oscar winner Payne returns after six years and brings Paul Giamatti in front of the camera again, who was already seen in “Sideways”. The official cinema release of “The Holdovers” is January 25th – the ABC cinema in Schwabing is showing the film for the impatient as a preview in the original with German subtitles on January 7th.

“The Holdovers”, director: Alexander Payne, preview, original subtitles, Sunday, January 7th, 4:45 p.m., ABC Kino, Herzogstr. 1a, official theatrical release: January 25th.
