Munich premiere: the award-winning film “Unruh” by Cyril Schäublin – Munich

In the Swiss Jura, Pyotr Kropotkin became an anarchist. At least that’s how the Russian geographer and writer put it in his “Memoirs of a Revolutionary.” You can experience how that happened in Cyril Schäublin’s feature film “Unruh”, which will premiere in Munich from January 6th to 11th at the Werkstattkino. On January 10, the Swiss will present his film, which won prizes at the Berlinale and the Viennale, in person. In addition to Kropotkin, it is also about Josephine Gräbli, who works in a watch factory in Saint Imier. There she makes the balance wheel, the oscillating system and the mechanical heart of a watch. In 1877 she met Kropotkin, together they indulged in anarchist and pacifist ideas. What Schäublin, who himself comes from a watchmaker family, describes in motionless, decentrally composed tableaus. The result is a multi-layered and likeable work that shows that there are other concepts of time and work.
