Munich: Police stop bicycle and e-scooter drivers on the A96 motorway – Munich

Just a few days after the police in the west of Munich stopped a drunk cyclist on the A99 ring road, they took another one off the highway – and an e-scooter driver at the same time. Both were on Friday around 0.40 a.m. near the Gräfelfing exit on the A96, both on the lanes to Lindau, but in different directions.

The cyclist, a 33-year-old chemist from Munich, came across the cars in their outermost fast lane as wrong-way drivers – from his point of view, on the right-hand side of the road. The driver of the e-scooter, a 28-year-old management consultant from the Kelheim district, was at least moving in the right direction.

Several patrols from the Munich police and the Fürstenfeldbruck traffic police pulled the two men out of traffic. A rapid alcohol test revealed a blood alcohol level of more than 1.6 for the cyclist and about 1.1 for the scooter pilot. The Munich traffic police are still investigating to what extent the two drivers were traveling together or whether their paths just crossed by chance.
