Munich police remove souped-up vehicles from traffic – Munich

They make Good Friday “Car Friday”: Easter is a special celebration for the so-called car poser scene, and the police do not leave people with tuned cars unobserved because daring driving maneuvers often pose a danger to passengers and spectators. According to their own information, the police found 3,000 people and more than 1,000 vehicles in parking lots and gas station areas in and around Munich on the nights of Saturday and Sunday.

The police had 130 officers on duty on the first night and more than 180 on the second night. They found around 120 violations of the rules and issued 360 expulsions. On the Frankfurter Ring, for example, a 38-year-old was driving a Ford with an exhaust system without an approval mark. The car was confiscated, just like a 19-year-old’s Mitsubishi in Riem: the chassis and engine were modified. In Ludwigsvorstadt, the BMW of a 21-year-old from the Bautzen district was towed away: the chassis, tires and lighting were changed.
