“Shots are fired in Heimstetten!” Startled by several similar emergency calls, the Munich police triggered the alarm for “life-threatening operations” (LBEL) on Thursday afternoon – for a possible terrorist attack or killing spree, actions that could endanger a large number of people.
The operational concept was developed after the experience of the racist OEZ attack, which will be celebrated for the sixth time in two weeks. According to initial information from the police, around 50 patrols were immediately on their way to the alleged crime scene. Luckily, the Executive Committee was able to give the all-clear internally a short time later. Shots were actually heard in Heimstetten – but it was a training session for the Munich police’s special operations command (SEK).
