Munich: Police and fire brigade warn of brittle ice on the Nymphenburg Canal – Munich

The Munich fire department warns against entering the ice surface on the Nymphenburg Canal because the ice is thin and cracked. There is a “break-in and danger to life.” According to the police, there was an operation on Sunday afternoon and several people were threatening to break in or had already fallen into the water. Appropriate notices had already been posted on site.

The fire department recommends checking whether an ice surface is thick enough before entering. Caution is advised where objects break through the ice. Water stains and discoloration can also indicate brittle areas. Parents should not leave their children unsupervised on the ice. Due to the currently mild temperatures, the police and fire brigade advise not to enter any ice surfaces.
