Munich: Plans for an Atomic Cafe party series are advanced – Munich

The photo of the wind chime can still be seen on the Atomic Café’s Facebook page, although the announcement that the club will be “back in action” in the fall has since been deleted. The news that the legendary live club could be revived at the beginning of October, at least as a series of parties at “LiveEvil” in the Fat Cat, has Munich’s Brit-Pop and indie friends in euphoria. But not everyone involved was pleased with the guerrilla advertising on social media, which had not been agreed in advance. Tom Nemeth, co-founder of Live/Evil, confirmed to the SZ that there were plans for an Atomic series in his club, but also said that the project was still “on shaky ground”. “I don’t know if it will work,” he said. A meeting is scheduled for Thursday, with more news coming later in the week.

Three weeks ago, a former Atomic Cafe DJ was DJing at Live/Evil. Tom Nemeth, who says he is a “big fan of the Atomic Café”, wanted to try out whether the music from back then still works today. “I miss the store,” he admits. The Live/Evil offers “live music, DJs and good drinks,” he says, not that far removed from the concept of the Atomic Café at the time. Maybe it’s time to go “back to the roots”, he says, after all the Atomic Café has also started a series of parties in the Wunderbar. “It would be cool to do something like that,” he says.

After the good reactions to the evening with DJ Frank, Tom Nemeth then contacted Christian Heine and Roland Schunk, the two Atomic Café operators from back then. The reaction after the first meeting: “Everyone is up for it,” says Nemeth. However, there are still logistical and organizational issues to be resolved.

“The idea is there, the wish is there,” he says, but at the moment it’s still in the planning phase. The beginning of October was set as a potential kick-off date, and you also have it Blek-le-Roc requested as a band for this evening. But it is not yet certain whether this date can be met – and whether the Atomic Café friends’ dream of a return of their favorite club will actually come true. “If I do, I want to do it right,” says Nemeth. One good party evening is not enough for him. “As a lover, I want to establish a series.”
