Munich: Pitbull swallows ball and dies – Munich

On Friday, the fire department received a dramatic emergency call from a leisure area in Waldperlach: A nine-month-old pit bull had swallowed a ball while playing and was about to suffocate on it, according to the fire department. The control center sent two units to the scene of the accident and alerted animal rescue. The dispatcher then instructed the dog’s family to use a so-called Heimlich maneuver to get the ball out of its body, but this failed. The mother of the family tried to get the foreign body out of the dog’s mouth, but the panicked pit bull bit.

The ball could therefore only be removed when the animal was lying lifeless on the ground. When the rescue workers arrived, the family tried to resuscitate the dog. But all attempts were unsuccessful. The emergency services treated the 46-year-old owner’s wounds and called for an ambulance. The woman was transported to a Munich clinic for further treatment. Several people, including the family of the deceased young dog, were looked after and calmed down by the emergency services for quite a while.
