Partying in public places during the summer cannot be prevented. But there can be no talk of infection protection in the pictures of the Munich party hotspots, and there is also the risk of riots such as recently in Augsburg.
So what to do The city has so far found it difficult to find solutions, even if it understands the needs of the youngsters. The closure of Ludwigstrasse is perhaps an approach – unfortunately the plans for this are far too vague so far. Another suggestion is: open the clubs! Because together with open-air raves and possibly also a lifting of the curfew for pubs, the discos should make a decisive contribution to a more regular celebration – of course subject to conditions: Only those who have been vaccinated, recovered or tested on site are allowed to enter. A residual risk cannot be ruled out here either, but unlike the vast numbers of people at the hotspots, the risk could be reduced by the tests.
Another advantage of the clubs: the premises are already there. Locations for open-air raves have to be found in Munich first, which is likely to be difficult. The lifting of the curfew for pubs would help to relieve the pressure on the hotspots. But the later it gets there, the higher the alcohol level of the untested guests and the greater the irrationality. So the clubs remain. Of course, the city cannot decree this on its own; the relaxation would have to be decided by the state government. But the city can build up pressure.
The opening of the clubs would also send a signal to the youth often forgotten in this pandemic: Look here, we take your worries seriously! The city and state, which have so far been rather preoccupied with finding ways to accommodate almost 15,000 people in the football stadium, owe this to their young citizens.
