Munich: Open days in the Geiger archive – Munich

To immerse yourself in the painter Rupprecht Geiger’s world of colors and shapes, there is hardly a better place than the Geiger Archive. The rooms have now been completely redesigned and are inviting people not only to a new presentation next weekend, but also to two “open days” with a family program.

On Saturday, January 27th, tours for adults through the newly designed archive rooms will take place at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. A children’s workshop entitled “Heavenly Soft Sun Red” also starts at 2 p.m. On Sunday, January 28th, Franziska Straubinger will give a lecture on Rupprecht Geiger’s concept of “spirit and matter” at 11 a.m. At the age of 95, Geiger had created six paintings and several print editions in which he placed powerful, vital colors (spirit) on untreated canvas (“morbid” matter). At 2 p.m. there will be another tour for adults as well as another children’s workshop entitled “Take in art!”.

Open days, Archive Geiger, Muttenthalerstraße 26, 81477 Munich, Saturday and Sunday, January 27th and 28th, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., information and registration via online booking at www.archiv-geiger.de
