Munich: Nicolas Demuth alias Parra for Cuva in the Muffathalle – Munich

Nutritionists recommend not immediately returning to normal eating habits in the first few days after a fasting cure lasting several weeks. It is better to approach it slowly, with easily digestible foods, in order to carefully reactivate the digestion. After a long period of abstinence, you probably want it to bang, in terms of calories. If there were a concert fast – and, to put it mildly, there really was for the past two years – you would probably want this bang at your first concert, the musical one. It also depends on the genre and favorite artist, but booming bass, impressive light shows and sensory overload are certainly not bad starting points. But maybe it’s more about feeling music again.

Nicolas Janco Demuth is one who is particularly good at this. Without exaggerating, without frills or shock factor. Instead, with well thought-out soundscapes and intelligent rhythms that feel intense and at the same time easily digestible. On stage, the man from Göttingen, who now lives in Berlin, calls himself Parra for Cuva. A neologism that means something like “Between the worlds”. Between classical, jazz and indie, he found his very own approach to electronic music early on. The tracks of the now 31-year-old clearly differ from the hard techno of his adopted homeland. They combine house and downtempo elements with acoustic instruments, synthesizers and catchy melodies. Above all, the soulful way in which he makes music has brought Parra for Cuva an international fan base: he has almost two million listeners a month on Spotify, most of them from London or Amsterdam.

Demuth is in Munich this weekend and will be DJing in the Muffathalle on Saturday. Anyone who is still undecided whether the first concert after a two-year abstinence should be an intense party night or a gentle approach can simply try both at once: musical light fare with soulful force.

Parra for Cuva, Saturday, May 21, 8 p.m., Muffathalle, Zellstr. 4
