Munich: New monument for Kini on the Cornelius Bridge – Munich

A new monument to Ludwig II is to be built on the Cornelius Bridge – exactly where one stood until 1943, when the Nazis melted it down. If everything goes as planned, the Kini will be enthroned over the Isar again in spring 2025.

The man with the king enthroned in his right hand also arouses the interest of tourists from the Far East. He rushed over the Cornelius Bridge in bad weather, but then stopped and is now standing in front of Dietmar Holzapfel with his smartphone out, who in turn is holding up a statuette of Ludwig II. “Who is this?” asks the tourist, “who is that?” “King Ludwig,” answers Holzapfel in a friendly manner. In response to a blank look from his counterpart, he adds: “Neuschwanstein, you know?” To which the tourist nods enthusiastically.
