At the beginning of the coming 2023/24 season, Christoph Heil, the previous choir director of the Stuttgart Opera, will take over the direction of the Bavarian State Opera Choir. The management of the Bavarian State Opera announced this to the choir and the public on Friday. In recent months there has been unrest about this post, because at the beginning of March Stellario Fagone, who had temporarily held it for years, was fired without notice. The reasons for this are not clear to this day. Nevertheless, the 53-year-old Italian has already found a new, prestigious position. He has been the artistic director of the Tölz Boys’ Choir since June.
