Munich-Neuperlach: protest against party on Pep-Parkdeck – Munich

The party plans for the Pep parking deck are once again being extensively changed – mainly out of concern for local protests. The operator wants to move the catering and event area on the parking garage roof of the Neuperlach shopping center further away from the residential development, reported Chairman Thomas Kauer (CSU) in the Ramersdorf-Perlach (BA) district committee. In addition, access should no longer be via a staircase on Charles-de-Gaulle-Straße, but via Thomas-Dehler-Straße.

According to Kauer, the organizer has announced that it will withdraw the building application that has already been submitted for a temporary conversion of the parking deck. Instead, he now wants to obtain a special use from the district administration department.

As a result of the planning application, the plans for a roof terrace with a restaurant were made public a few weeks ago. According to the center manager of the shopping center, Sascha Schönherr, an “established organizer” wants to set up food stands, seating and a stage with a screen in summer where cars are usually parked in the open air – under the working title Summerdeck. Opening hours are planned from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and until midnight before weekends and public holidays. “The idea is that people here have a cocktail, eat some finger food and enjoy the beautiful view.”

However, these plans had worried some local residents; they feared above all the noise. A letter of protest was received by the District Committee. However, during an on-site meeting with the organizer, center management and BA members, “a mutually acceptable solution was found,” reported Kauer. The event area on the car park roof with the glass dome should be moved in the direction of Thomas-Dehler-Straße – “and thus away from the residential development,” said the BA boss. “At the same time, it makes things a bit more visible.”

Meanwhile, Pep hopes that the Summerdeck will be able to open its doors in June. After the replanning, the project was “of a magnitude that won’t cause any major trouble,” Kauer said with conviction. “I think you can try something like that.”
