Munich: Neuaubing forced labor camp – a contemporary witness returns – Munich

The Dutchman Teunis van Houwelingen had to work as a forced laborer in Neuaubing during the Nazi era at the age of 18 – he only told his family about it ten years ago. Now the 96-year-old is returning to a city that benefited from war slaves.

Teunis van Houwelingen didn’t sleep well. This was not due to the day trip in the family car from Sliedrecht near Rotterdam to Munich. The gentleman with the high parting of his white hair is obviously coping well with the almost 800 kilometers – as he springs out of the car and wedges himself behind the walker.
