The district administration department (KVR) has fixed an error in the driver’s license office, but the search for a suspected signature forger has failed. Hanna Sammüller-Gradl (Greens) explained this in a letter at the request of ÖDP parliamentary group leader Tobias Ruff. As a result, due to an IT error in the summer of 2023, in 119 cases the passport photos and signatures of young people who had just gotten their driver’s license and were now waiting for it to be issued in credit card format were simply deleted. They had to hand in both again, the problem has been solved.
Why and how in an “isolated case”, as the speaker writes, a presumably forged signature appeared on a driver’s license remains unclear. The KVR had called in the internal audit department and filed a criminal complaint, but the investigation was stopped without results, according to the letter.
