Munich: More than 100 operations due to pyrotechnics – excitement at Ikea in Brunnthal – Munich

Since Thursday and until Saturday, pyrotechnic items have been allowed to be sold for the New Year’s Eve fireworks display, which is eagerly awaited by many. Rockets, firecrackers and fountains may only be burned on December 31st and January 1st.

That seems too far away for the patience of some: the police counted a good 100 calls by Friday afternoon because of premature bangs – mostly alerted by citizens who complained about the noise. In the rarest of cases, however, the officers were able to find the noisemakers. If they did, they were mostly children and young people who were urgently warned that they were violating the Explosives Act. Pyrotechnics were also seized and handed over to the young people’s parents.

There was more excitement about the fire on Thursday afternoon at Ikea in Brunnthal: someone had set off pyrotechnics in the parking garage, which triggered the fire alarm system. This led to the building being briefly evacuated before the fire department and police could give the all-clear. It is not known who lit the fireworks. No people or property were harmed.
