Summer, sun, happiness – there are people who get a cold shudder from so much exuberance. Conveniently, the Hamburg band had to mono inc postpone their concert planned for May this year, which is now being made up for backstage.
“Ravenblack” is the name of the current, twelfth album by the band, which was founded in 2000. There is no need to be frightened by musical innovation here. Mono Inc. have settled into the solid combination of thick distorted guitars and chilled synthesizers.
Of course, this rises on mighty wings over the earthly vale of tears: In “Angels Never Die” the guitar hammers into the pit of your stomach and a being greets you from the afterlife. One song further on, with “Heartbeat Of The Dead” you feel pleasantly reminded of the dark hours of the eighties, when pathos and poses still easily passed as fashion accessories.
