“Memories and Encounters” is the subtitle of Michael Krüger’s memoirs – and there have been plenty of them in his life. The long-time head of the Munich Hanser publishing house and writer has a lot to tell. And he can tell stories, as readers know not only of his poems and novels, but also of his first childhood memories: with the booklet “Das Strandbad” in the 5plus edition, he warmed himself up, so to speak, to the great memoirs.
They are now being published by Suhrkamp under the title “Attendance with Poets,” and Krüger will read from them on November 6th by Lehmkuhl. The fact that he will soon be celebrating his 80th birthday is reason for another evening: On December 14th, Krüger will read poems from five decades in the Lyrik Kabinett. “Steps, Shadows, Days, Limits” is the title of this evening – and one more opportunity for encounters that become memories.
