Munich: Max-Josef-Stift is working on its Nazi history. – Munich

The Max-Josef-Stift girls’ high school looks back on a 200-year history. One chapter has left a particularly problematic mark: a blood and soil fresco from 1939. Eduard Steinert’s mural was hidden behind curtains for decades, but in recent years students and teachers have used it as an opportunity to examine their own History.

In the seventh year of National Socialist rule, the venerable Munich institution moved to the new representative building in which it has resided ever since on Mühlbauerstrasse in Bogenhausen. This is now the subject of a documentary film by Thomas Dashuber, Bettina Mehić and Katharina Willimski about the specific work of remembrance at the school, its title: “That’s not us”. It will be presented during a discussion evening.

“That’s not us”, Wednesday, November 29th, 7 p.m., 6:30 p.m., Max-Josef-Stift high school, Mühlbaurstr. 15, Munich
