Munich: Mariabrunner Straße is properly prepared for the first time – Munich

Mariabrunner Strasse in Aubing will have sidewalks and drainage for the first time. The start of construction for the expansion of the route between Schönbrunner and Sulzemooser Straße should be from 2023, the mobility department expects construction costs between 1.3 and 1.7 million euros. The fact that Mariabrunner Strasse is now being “built for the first time” has to do with the concerns of numerous residents and the Aubing-Lochhausen-Langwied district committee for the safety of school and kindergarten children.

Because the road serves as a secret route for many motorists between the northern part of Aubing and Bergsonstraße – especially since it runs dead straight and tempts you to step on the gas pedal hard despite the 30 km/h zone. The residents therefore see families with children in particular, who walk or cycle on the road, as being “exposed to constant danger”. Added to this is the poor quality of the road.

Even in moderate rain, small lakes form on the asphalt in the current state. If the crackling gets louder, the water threatens to flood the basements of the residents. It is still unclear whether the residents will have to pay for the development – when roads are first built, each individual case must be examined separately due to the currently unclear legal situation.
