Are you back? Luxury watch robbery from a scooter – in Munich this criminal phenomenon seemed to have ended a year ago with the arrest of three young men from Naples. The members of a larger gang are said to have acted “organized and based on the division of labour”, always following the same pattern: one of the perpetrators suddenly approached the victim on the sidewalk or the street and snatched his wristwatch. He then fled on a motorcycle with a helper waiting nearby.
A 64-year-old reported a very similar case on Friday at the old town guard station. A previously unknown perpetrator had ripped a watch worth more than 10,000 euros from the man’s wrist around 2 p.m. on Maffeistrasse. The perpetrator then fled, who, according to the victim, was a passenger on a scooter at the time of the crime.
According to a police spokesman, the investigations by Commissariat 21 must show whether there is a connection with the series of robberies from 2021/2022. The perpetrators at the time were sentenced to prison terms in March. They had previously committed similar acts in Italy. There the motorized highwaymen are called “Scippatori”.
