Munich: Last generation sprays paint on the Christmas tree at Sendlinger Tor – Munich

Climate activists from the “Last Generation” sprayed a Christmas tree and a market stall with orange paint at the Christmas market at Sendlinger Tor on Wednesday morning. Around ten o’clock two men rolled up a banner with the slogan “Contemplative in the catastrophe? Charity = climate protection!” and then began spraying paint onto the tree and stand from fire extinguishers converted into spray guns.

Simon Lachner, spokesman for the “Last Generation”, explained: “Amidst the flashing lights, shiny jewelry and festive atmosphere, it is easy to forget: We are racing full speed towards catastrophe and our governments in Dubai are currently failing to pull the emergency brake and to decide on the exit from fossil fuels, which is necessary for survival.”

The personal details of the two activists have been recorded by the police and they are expecting a report for damage to property. The paint was easily rinsed off with a water hose. At the same time, similar actions took place in other cities. In Berlin, a large Christmas tree in front of the Federal Council was hit, and there were also incidents in Oldenburg, Kiel, Leipzig, Rostock and Nuremberg.
