A 15-month-old child fell into a light shaft in an apartment building in Laim on Wednesday afternoon. As the fire department reports, the shaft in the house on the corner of Siglstrasse and Wilhelm-Riehl-Strasse had a 20 centimeter wide gap. The child fell about three meters through this.
Rescue workers who were initially alerted were therefore unable to open the gate and requested support from the fire department. The emergency services forcibly removed the cover and then rescued the child from the light shaft.
The child was very lucky: According to the fire department, an initial examination by the rescue service and the pediatric emergency doctor showed that he had survived the crash without injuries. He was handed over to his parents’ care.
