The fire department found an 84-year-old woman dead in her burned bed in an apartment building in Laim. The emergency services were alerted on Wednesday evening because of the smell of fire in the stairwell of the house on Camerloherstrasse. “Despite intensive investigation, the cause could not initially be determined,” the fire department reported on Thursday.
Finally, the apartments were checked to rule out a fire in the house. The emergency services suspected that the smell of fire was coming from an apartment on the third floor to which no one opened the door. While checking the living quarters, the fire brigade found the dead 84-year-old in the burnt bed. The fire had already extinguished itself and the area had cooled down.
