The largest humanities congress in Europe begins this Tuesday in Munich: the 53rd German Historians’ Day. It was planned for 2020, the organizers expected around 3,000 guests at the Ludwig Maximilians University (LMU). After one year of compulsory pause due to the corona pandemic, the congress is now largely digital, with around 200 forums and lectures, but also virtual city tours and exhibitions; the exact program is available at historikertag.de. Martin Zimmermann is the spokesman for the Historikertag. A conversation about struggles for interpretation – and the challenge of networking with one another in the pandemic.
