Munich: Installation on the subject of “guest workers” in the Pathos Theater. – Munich

Between 1955 and 1973, the so-called “guest workers” came to Germany from countries such as Italy and Turkey. But they were mostly only seen as workers, rarely as guests, and they were only called that because it was thought that they would leave after the work was done. But many stayed, and they changed German society.

In their sound and video installation “Gastarbeiter*innen-Stories” in the Pathos Theater, Bülent Kullukcu and Karnik Gregorian focus on who they were or are. Events will accompany the installation. After the opening on June 29 at 5:00 p.m., there will be a panel discussion and a concert by Asmir Sabic. The next day, the Korean women’s choir and the duo Sabber Sabber perform. On July 1st there will be a film lecture performance by Cem Kaya on migrant films. And on July 2, Kaya will present his wonderful documentary “Love, D-Mark and Death” about migrant music culture in Germany in a matinee.
