Munich: initiators of the Radentscheid take stock – Munich

The activists criticize that there is not much to see yet – and call for a task force to speed up the expansion of the cycle paths. The city, on the other hand, points to initial successes.

Three years ago, the initiators of the Radentscheid handed over their signatures to the city, and now they are criticizing what they see as the slow implementation. Not much can be seen yet, according to an open letter to the city leaders, the administration and the green-red city government. The two citizens’ petitions in Radentscheid and Altstadt-Radlring stipulate implementation by 2025. The initiators are now calling for a task force to speed up processes and are calling for a large Altstadt-Radlring demonstration on Saturday, July 23rd.

However, the city points out that wide cycle paths are already available on Thomas-Wimmer-Ring and Blumenstraße. The construction of the next section of the Altstadt-Radlring from Lenbach-/Maximiliansplatz to the Platz der Opfer des Nationalsozialismus will begin at the end of August. In addition, the planning for the construction of the Von-der Tann-Straße section between Ludwigstraße and Königstraße is well advanced. The details for the Ring sections Blumenstraße/Frauenstraße, Brienner Straße, Odeonsplatz and Ludwigstraße as well as Sendlinger-Tor-Platz, Sonnenstraße and Karlsplatz/Lenbachplatz are currently being worked on.
