Munich: Identity of burned homeless man clarified – Munich

Almost a week after the crime, the police identified the homeless man who burned under the pedestrian bridge on the Isarring last Thursday. It is a 78-year-old German who was born in the Munich district and most recently had no permanent residence. The police did not give a name.

Identification by visual inspection was not possible as the dead man’s burn injuries were too severe. Rather, it was achieved through investigations, among other things, into the homeless community to which the man belonged.

He was discovered last Thursday by passers-by who were still trying to put out the flames. However, it was too late; the emergency doctor could only determine that the man was dead. The police later announced that the death was caused by “external influence”, but did not want to specify this in more detail for tactical reasons.
