Munich: Hundreds of thousands of euros looted in weekend break-ins – Munich

Four burglaries spread across the entire city are currently keeping the police busy – also because exceptionally large sums of money were stolen in each case.

On Friday shortly before 8 p.m., a silent alarm was triggered in a single-family home on Chamissostraße in Bogenhausen. A security service employee discovered that there had been a break-in. The thieves apparently forced their way in through a window and took jewelry, which the police estimate is worth up to 100,000 euros.

On Saturday night, a man returned to his apartment on Dietlindenstrasse around 12:20 a.m. and noticed that burglars had broken open the balcony door. Cash worth 10,000 euros and jewelry worth 100,000 euros were missing. The resident was not at home between 6:30 p.m. and 12:20 a.m., which is when the break-in must have occurred.

Burglars must have broken into an apartment on Thorner Strasse in Moosach between 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. – the resident was absent during these hours. They forced open a window in the ground floor apartment and stole jewelry and cash worth up to 30,000 euros.

Burglars entered an apartment on Rudolf-Zenker-Straße in Hadern on Sunday via a balcony. The crime appears to have occurred between Saturday, 10:15 a.m. and Sunday, 12:35 a.m. – the resident was not at home during this period. Jewelry and cash amounting to up to 50,000 euros were lost.

The police point out that the number of burglaries regularly increases as the days get shorter and it gets dark earlier – then special caution is required. It is currently being examined whether the four break-ins from the weekend are related. The police are asking possible witnesses who have observed suspects to come forward about all crimes.
