Alcohol, broken glass, overcrowded places – and everyone feels right: The people who want to celebrate, the police officers who point out the rules to them and the residents who want their peace and quiet. Nocturnal observations in Munich.

You have to do that first. That one morning it smells like a club after a night of partying at six o’clock in the morning. But Munich can do it. The Reichenbach Bridge on Saturday morning two weeks ago: a sidewalk stuck together with spilled drinks, which evaporates in the morning sun to such an extent that you only arrive tipsy on the other side. It seems as if the city has been turned inside out, what was inside is outside. And inside? It’s still closed, at least the clubs that need it so badly. When you visit the outdoor meeting places, a lot becomes clear very quickly. And some things are surprising.
