Munich: Hilary Hahn and the Filarmónica Joven de Colombia in the Isarphilharmonie – Review – Munich

Hilary Hahn and the Filarmónica Joven de Colombia thrilled the audience in the Isarphilharmonie – and conductor Orozco-Estrada announced a surprise for the final piece, Stranvinsky’s “Petrushka”.

It’s not often that the audience at a concert leaves the hall cheering so cheerfully, accompanied in the foyer by peppery South American rhythms performed by a few musicians from the Filarmónica Joven de Colombia. The afternoon session in the Isarphilharmonie certainly contributed to the impression of the overall joyful, energetic music-making of the Colombian youth orchestra under the stimulating, highly committed direction of its chief conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada and the expectant, alert mood of the listeners. A touch of well-understood relaxation lay over everything.
