Munich: Haus der Kunst – exhibition of the Ars Viva award winners – Munich

How can art deal with social, political and social upheavals? Three young Ars Viva award winners try to provide answers.

Should we soon feel sorry for art collectors who do not have a private museum? Will galleries soon no longer be able to present artists if they do not have the space available in a museum? Where else is flatware hanging on the wall? Where does a handy sculpture stand on a pedestal? Where is the media work that fits on a standard-sized screen running? Instead: space-related works, often oversized and complicated in structure. Conceptual works that seem bulky rather than sensual. Artistic ideas that are hardly implemented in an analogue world and – now only considered from the purely practical side – can hardly be shown anymore.
