Munich: “Gratitudes” in the Zimmertheater Mathilde Westend – Munich

The liver sausage becomes “Lauerwurst”, knocking becomes “hop on” and thank you becomes “Dante”. Michka was once a master of words; as a proofreader for newspapers, she never missed a mistake. No sentence errors, no syntax errors and certainly no conjugation errors. But things are different now. Due to aphasia, an acquired speech disorder, the elderly woman finds it increasingly difficult to express herself and understands what others want to say to her. Complete with a nursing bed on the window sill and sterile, minimalist furniture, the tiny room stage in the Mathilde Westend Theater is transformed into Michka’s room in the retirement home, which becomes a venue for important words despite her loss of language.
