During excavation work on a construction site on Wohlfartstrasse in Freimann, a tragic accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. in which a 32-year-old man was fatally injured. According to the fire department, the man was in the swing area of the excavator arm that was not visible to the excavator driver. He was hit by the shovel and pressed against the embankment of the excavation pit, causing him to suffer serious injuries in the chest area.
When the rescue workers arrived, the man was lying unconscious in the excavation pit. He was rescued using resuscitation measures and taken to the trauma room of a clinic by the emergency doctor. He died there shortly afterwards. The excavator driver had to be looked after by a crisis intervention team. The police are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
