A five-year-old child got his hand caught in an escalator on Monday and was seriously injured. The boy was with his family in a shop on Neuhauser Strasse when he got his hand between a speed step and the side panel on the escalator.
The security personnel immediately rushed to help, stopped the escalator and tried to support the boy, reports the fire brigade. The rescuers were able to use wedges and a nail puller to move the step so far that the child’s hand was quickly freed. An ambulance took the boy to the children’s hospital. The police are now investigating how the accident happened.
