Munich: Fire brigade saves squirrels – they bite – Munich

We know that firefighters regularly save cats from trees. But of course cats don’t have a monopoly on putting themselves in danger – other animals can do that too. And so on Thursday a cute squirrel managed to get so hopelessly caught in a small net on a Munich balcony that it had to be freed by a fearless fire fighter.

It was the employee of a doctor’s office who first saw the helpless rodent struggling on the first floor, the Munich fire department reported in a press release. First she rang the doorbell to the relevant apartment door – but it remained locked and the croissant was caught. So the woman picked up the phone and made an emergency call.

The fire department immediately sent a “small alarm vehicle” to the rescue. But according to the press release, “the squirrel was uncooperative in its fear and repeatedly bit at the firefighter’s finger.” But he held back the pain and courageously grabbed the animal while his colleagues cut the net. After the squirrel was freed, firefighters checked it for injuries – and found none.

And what did the animal do when the men let it go again? It immediately climbed the nearest tree.
