Felix Fechenbach was secretary to Kurt Eisner, leftist, a pioneer of the revolution – and was therefore sentenced to eleven years in prison. The judiciary, on the other hand, was very merciful to the person who murdered him in cold blood in a forest in 1933.

If Felix Fechenbach were a völkisch nationalist activist who fought the Weimar Republic with violence, he would have little to fear from this court before which he was accused in October 1922. The Bavarian people’s courts, set up by the Eisner government after the 1918 revolution to punish looting and acts of violence, became a weapon of political justice in Bavaria in the early 1920s, in which arch-reactionary politicians such as Gustav von Kahr set the tone campaign against the democratic state, the Reich government and the left, especially the revolutionaries of 1918.
