Munich: Father and son sentenced to prison for craftsman tricks – Munich

The district court ruled that the two robbed senior citizens in Munich and Nuremberg of money, jewelry and gold. A suspected accomplice is arrested in the trial room.

The Munich I district court has sentenced a father and his son to several years in prison for gang theft. The 49-year-old and the 24-year-old used the so-called craftsman’s trick together with accomplices to steal money, jewelry and gold, according to the court. They got five years and three years in prison respectively. Because of alcohol and drug addiction, both are housed in a rehab facility. The criminal court also confiscated the loot of more than 60,000 euros.

The court was convinced that the accused, who came from North Rhine-Westphalia, had arranged to meet with two other perpetrators to deliberately steal from older people in the Munich and Nuremberg area as “false craftsmen”. While some pretended to check the water pipes and distracted the residents, others searched the apartments for valuables. The son had the task of finding and scouting out potential victims using their first names in the telephone book.

Father and son fully confessed and also gave the name of a previously unknown alleged accomplice, who was provisionally arrested on Tuesday immediately after his testimony. The verdict is final because both the accused and the public prosecutor waived appeals. The case against a third defendant was separated because of his Covid 19 disease.
