Colonizing the moon, Mars or space in general: This is a dream that not only some scientists but also some politicians and self-made billionaires harbor. In the case of the moon, for example, we know that this can only be achieved if it is cultivated first and made “cultivable”. What that could look like is shown in the animated film “Field Plots” by Jonathan and Jakob Penca at Lothringer 13 in Munich. Here it is not the moon, but a square plate flying in space on which tools such as plows or seed drills operate automatically. But: no success! Because the power of “disintegration” is stronger. And so neither cabbages nor onions are planted on the plate. The tools fly away and the plate remains empty.
