Munich: Elevator gets stuck – fire department saves 70-year-old – Munich

The fire department rescued a 70-year-old man from a stuck elevator in Munich. Due to a technical problem, the emergency services had to improvise, as the fire department announced on Wednesday.

Normally in such a case the brakes are released, causing the cab to descend. But that didn’t work on Tuesday evening because the cabin was probably too light. The rescue workers therefore decided to place heavy objects from the fire engine onto the roof of the elevator car. But according to the fire department, that didn’t have the desired effect either.

Finally, the rescue workers carefully pulled the cabin up using a multi-purpose train. The 70-year-old was able to be freed from the elevator. The man had been in the cabin for more than an hour.
