Munich: Dispute over Norway maple and possible illegal construction – Munich

Because living space is scarce, more and more basements are being built in Munich. A case in which a nearly 100-year-old tree was felled is an example of the conflicts that can arise.

There are always surprises during construction work. A nail stupidly hits the water pipe, sometimes rainwater suddenly presses into the house after a terrace has been demolished. However, damp basement walls suddenly turn into light shafts for new basement apartments, which is also a rare occurrence in Munich. A surprising metamorphosis recently took place at Adalbertstrasse 55 in the Maxvorstadt district. It was unpleasantly noticed because a decades-old Norway maple was affected.
