Munich: Despite the ban, climate stickers block parts of the old town ring

“We’d rather sink in glue than in the flood disaster” – under this motto two activists from the last generation pasted themselves and blocked parts of Munich’s Altstadtring on Wednesday morning. They also set up a big glue barrel. The action was the first after the apartment searches on Tuesday. The public prosecutor’s office in Neurupppin accuses members of the group of “forming a criminal organization”. Micha Frey from Munich: “Of course we also expected that the state would react, because we make it more and more obvious every day how it fails. How the state and the government fail to do their duty and our lives protect. And now, the house searches are a clear attempt at intimidation. But of course it’s also clear that it won’t work, because what do they expect now? That we stop now?”
In Munich, a general decree on preventive averting of danger is valid until January 8, 2023. All gatherings in connection with climate protests in the form of street blockades, where participants stick themselves to the street, are prohibited throughout the city – provided that the obligation to report under the law on gatherings has not been complied with. For activist Micha Frey, that’s no reason to end the protests: “Today we sat down on the road again with paste and glue because we have to be disruptive. Because we want a stop in everyday life and in our ‘keep it up’ because we all know that ‘keep it up’ will lead us to disaster.” According to the Press Office of the Last Generation, nine activists in Bavaria have been in preventive detention since last week, some until early January 2023. The activists announced further protest actions on a poster laid out on the ground.
