Munich: dead baby in Gern – mother under suspicion – Munich

A 23-year-old woman from Munich may have caused the death of her newborn because she did not take care of the baby. The woman informed the rescue control center around 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday morning that her child would no longer be breathing, as the Munich police announced on Thursday morning. As a result, an emergency doctor could only determine the boy’s death.

According to the police’s current knowledge, the 23-year-old gave birth to the child about a week earlier in her apartment in the Gern district, without anyone noticing. During the autopsy of the infant at the Munich Institute for Forensic Medicine, there were indications that the infant was acutely undersupplied. Criminal law is therefore assumed to be manslaughter by omission.

According to the police, the woman lives alone in an apartment in an apartment building and does not work. She appears to be suffering from a mental illness. Therefore, the prerequisites for criminal measures involving deprivation of liberty were not met. The 23-year-old was provisionally housed in a psychiatric hospital by order of the health department. The woman was previously known to police.
