Munich: Dachauer Straße closed until 2026 due to new bridge construction – all information – Munich

From January 15th, Dachauer Straße near the Moosach S-Bahn station will be closed to car traffic for almost two years. The reason is a new construction of the railway bridge and the road underneath. The project costs the city and Deutsche Bahn a total of 13 million euros.

According to the railway, the new construction of the bridge is necessary due to its age. This should now be widened and increased to 4.5 meters by lowering the street. This also provides an option to extend the tram line from Moosach to Dachau.

By separating bicycle and pedestrian traffic in the future, the city hopes to reduce the number of accidents on Dachauer Straße. Until the planned completion at the end of 2026, the railway bridge can only be crossed under on temporary paths.

Drivers must prepare for a large-scale diversion via Georg-Brauchle-Ring, Triebstrasse and Max-Born-Strasse. Bus route 163 will run on its usual route until February 12th. From then on, passengers have to get off at Moosach train station on one side of the bridge and get on again on the other. Rail traffic will not be restricted by the new building for the time being.
