Munich: Crux Winter Jam and Winter Festival at Muffatwerk. – Munich

It takes less than 30 seconds to see Vladimir Putin’s face. In the 2019 video for the song “Ikarus (I Feel a Change)” by the Austrian band Hearts Hearts. The accompanying text tells of hope for social and economic change. And Putin, like the British politician Nigel Farage, who died in 2020, actually only appears in the video as a bogeyman. Today, of course, it seems a little different. The image of the Russian president immediately takes on a great deal of weight in one’s mind and talk of change is given an ambivalence. Unfortunately, it is Putin who has recently changed the world like no other. Then there are the protests in Iran. And you notice: the change is a difficult, unpredictable story.

What can be said for that in the case of Hearts Hearts and “Ikarus” is: The song has the story of January 7th at the Muffat Winter Festival appearing band changed for the better. Because as a small hit, it brought the troupe, which has existed since 2010, deserved, greater publicity. As an up-and-coming indie pop band, the Viennese fit well into the program of the musical winter festival in Munich’s Muffatwerk, which this year again offers a colorful mix of exciting newcomers at a very reasonable price. This also includes the singer Victoryaz from Munich, who combines soul-pop with R’n’B, jazz and hip-hop and, after her debut EP “Same Language”, now hers new single “Rose Colored Glasses” introduces.

Also the new rivals come from Munich. The electropoppers appear as further reinforcement Room90 from Stuttgart at the winter festival, the Hamburg singer-songwriter Lùisa and the Berlin-based Austrian Uche Yara, who is the support act for Picture book attracted attention. DJs Phillinger and Twoisaparty will keep the party going until the early hours. Anyone who is generally more into dancing and stylistically more into hip-hop should drop by the Muffatwerk on January 5th. Because there the “Crux Winter Jam” instead: with hip hop, afrobeats, R’n’B, trap, dancehall, amapiano and much more on a total of three floors.
