This Monday, the city’s old people’s home provider, the Münchenstift, will start building a project that has a long history: the new nursing home on Franz-Nißl-Strasse in Allach. The plot of land has been prepared for construction work since October last year and a partial building permit has now been obtained. The actual construction work can then begin.

As of this Monday, trees will therefore first be felled – in good time before the bird protection period, which begins on March 1st. There are 40 trees on the property that fall under the Tree Protection Ordinance but are to be replanted. The excavation for the house can then begin. As a low-energy house, it should meet high climate protection standards. “Now we can expect that the facility on Franz-Nißl-Strasse will be ready by the end of 2025,” says Siegfried Benker, Managing Director of the Münchenstift. The new building will create a sustainable home for the residents of north-west Munich.

The new old people’s and nursing home in Allach will offer 202 full in-patient care places, around 75 percent of which are gerontopsychiatric places with a protective area. A residential area for Muslim seniors is also planned. 18 apartments are available to sprightly older people for senior-friendly living in old age. There will also be day care with 20 places. And an outpatient care service that can take care of senior citizens in need of care in the neighborhood and in the neighboring parts of the city.

The nursing home replaces the Hans-Sieber-Haus on Manzostrasse. Residents were initially upset about the massiveness and height of the new complex. Many rounds of discussion followed in the Allach-Untermenzing district committee on the question of location and traffic development, as well as a residents’ meeting. In the end, Münchenstift partly addressed the concerns: Among other things, the company dispensed with one storey and planned more space.
