In downtown Munich there was another traffic blockade by climate activists on Thursday morning. At around 10:30 a.m., representatives of the “Last Generation” sat down and taped themselves to the Stachus between the fountain and the Palace of Justice, thus blocking traffic in both directions.
A total of 17 people were involved, who were gradually removed by noon, the police said. She blocked Sonnenstrasse and diverted the cars on one side at Sendlinger Tor and on the other in front of Bayerstrasse.
Aimée van Baalen, a spokeswoman for the “Last Generation”, which has recently appeared in Berlin, explained the measure in a media release as a message of solidarity to the currently imprisoned members of “Scientist Rebellion”. Last week, scientists from several European countries drew attention to the consequences of climate change with adhesive campaigns at Karlsplatz and then in the BMW World and called on governments to take action.
13 of them are still in custody by judicial order until this weekend to prevent further incidents. “We cannot accept this blatant injustice and have now extended our resistance to Bayern,” said van Baalen.
