Munich: Charlotte Greves “Lisbeth Quartet” in the Unterfahrt – Munich

14 years ago, while still studying in Berlin, alto saxophonist Charlotte Greve founded her with pianist Manuel Schmiedel, bassist Marc Muellbauer and drummer Moritz Baumgartner Lisbeth Quartet. Although she went to New York in 2012, since living there and projects like that wood riverQuartet or a duo with Simon Jermyn, and although their companions are now very busy – Muellbauer, for example, is Julia Hülsmann’s regular bass player – the band has lasted to this day. And how! As early as 2010, Greve was awarded the Jazz Baltica Promotional Prize, followed in 2012 by Echo Jazz as the German “Newcomer of the Year”, and last year the German Jazz Prize in the category “Artist of the Year”. Shortly thereafter, the Lisbeth Quartet’s fifth album “Release” was released, which is now in the underpass is on the program. And where you can once again experience a perfectly harmonizing band organism, carried by Greve’s fine songwriting, which is open to improvisation, and her clear, singing alto saxophone tone.
