Munich Central Station: Aluminum balloon triggers fire alarm on S-Bahn – Munich

A helium balloon briefly disrupted S-Bahn traffic in Munich. As the federal police announced on Monday, an aluminum-coated balloon got caught in the overhead line at the main train station stop on Saturday night. An explosive arc occurred, causing a small piece of concrete to come loose from the ceiling and fall onto the tracks. According to the information, no one was injured. The S-Bahn trains were also able to continue running after a short fire service.

The mezzanine and subway platforms had previously been cleared because the fire alarm was triggered. It was initially not known who the balloon belonged to. The police are investigating the disruption to public services. Deutsche Bahn and the federal police also warned against taking aluminum balloons into train stations. This is prohibited when full.
